Simon Brotherton

This will be Simon's second Olympic Games. He previously covered cycling and boxing in Atlanta in 1996.

Once again he will be the cycling commentator for both the track and road events.

Most of the year Simon spends his time as a football commentator for BBC TV's Match of the Day and Radio Five Live.

His credits include the 1998 World Cup, Euro '96, Euro 2000, the 1998 European Champions League Final and the 1999 Uefa Cup final.

His involvement in cycling centres around the Tour de France, which he has covered seven times, as well as the World Championships on road and track.

In Atlanta, Simon was given particular responsibility for boxing and it is likely he will watching some of the fights this time round.

He has covered numerous world title fights over recent years including Bruno v Tyson, Tyson v Holyfield (1), Lewis v McCall (2) - when McCall broke down in the ring in Las Vegas as well as various world title fights involving the likes of Naz, Eubank, Benn, Bruno, Woodhall and Hide.

Simon, who has worked for the BBC for over 10 years, lives in Hertfordshire with his wife Sharon and eight-month-old daughter Fleur.
