Iain Carter
BBC Radio Five Live's Iain Carter has spent the past decade covering many of the world's top sporting events.

Beginning his career as a news reporter for a local press agency in Leicester, Iain moved into radio with the BBC in 1991. Few events have since escaped him.

In 1995 he saw first hand the effect sport can have on a nation when South Africa won the Rugby World Cup.

As a member of the BBC's World Service he then spent many months covering cricket in the country as well as numerous tours to the West Indies.

After presenting the breakfast sports news on BBC Radio Five Live, Iain witnessed Damon Hill's championship success in 1996 as the station's Formula One pit lane reporter.

One year later he began covering tennis and is now BBC Radio's tennis correspondent.

"If you're keen on sport, as I am, then you could not ask for a better career," he says.

"It's taken me to places I didn't dream of going as a child."

Iain has difficulty pinpointing the highlight of his career thus far.

"There are many. The Rugby World Cup, Brian Lara's 375 in Antigua and Great Britain's Davis Cup tie against the United States last year were all equally fantastic," he says.

Iain, still a keen Leicester City fan, is married to BBC News producer Sarah Parrish and lives in Surrey.
