Paula Radcliffe took the 5000m title with a powerful performance while Hayley Tullet retained her AAA's crown in the 1500m in Birmingham on Sunday.

Dominant Radcliffe, garbed in unusual long white socks, won by a comfortable margin to book her place in the Sydney Olympics.

Radcliffe clocked in a time of 15:05.48 minutes - 16 seconds ahead of Jo Pavey.

"I thought about really pushing it for the last kilometre but I was a little tired and just thought I don't really need to do this," said Radcliffe.

"I had to wear white, power socks. I twisted my ankle the other day jumping away from a dog and a bike."

Hayley Tullett also put in a great performance as she retained her title in the women's 1500m final.

The runner oozed confidence as she retained her AAA's crown with a comprehensive victory.

The 27-year-old Swansea Harrier ran a controlled the race from the start to confirm her place in the British Olympics team.

Helen Pattinson took second spot and will join Tullett in Sydney having already reached the qualifying standard.

Kelly Caffel finished third, well behind the first two.
