Islam-Beka Albiev became the second youngest wrestling champion in Olympic history as he beat Vitaliy Rahimov in the 60kg Greco-Roman wrestling final.
The 19-year-old Russian won the best-of-three period match against the Azerbaijani fighter 2-0, taking the first 2-0 and the second 4-0.
It was Russia's second consecutive gold after Nazyr Mankiev won the 55kg class.
Kazakhstan's Nurbakyt Tengizbayev and Ruslan Tiumenbaev of Kyrgyzstan claimed the bronze medals.
Albiev, watched by Russia's great wrestler Aleksandr Karelin, said he was delighted that all four medallists came from the former Soviet Union.
"I think this is a continuation of a great tradition," he said.
