Northern Ireland's Andrew Bree broke his own Irish 100 metres breaststroke record in Nashville on Friday night.
The Helen's Bay swimmer, who has qualified for the Beijing Olympics, clocked one minute, 1.83 seconds at a summer invitational meeting.
He will swim in his specialist event, the 200m breaststroke, on Saturday.
Last month 27-year-old Bree escaped with a warning after his use of an over-the-counter decongestant led to him failing a drugs test.
