Interview: Swimmer Jemma Lowe
Great Britain swimmer Jemma Lowe has refused to set a target for medals at the Beijing Olympics in August.
Hartlepool-born Lowe qualified for the Games at April's trials in Sheffield and is just hoping to enjoy her first experience of the event.
"Everyone who goes to the Olympics wants a medal but the competition is so different," she told BBC Look North.
"I'm going to race as hard as I can and just see what happens. Anything can happen if you're mentally tough."
The 18-year-old will be taking part in at least two events at the games, namely the 100m and 200m butterfly.
It has been a tough few months for Lowe as she has had to make some personal sacrifices.
"I need to celebrate my 18th birthday because I had the 200m fly heat on the night of my birthday and the final the next morning," she rued.
"It was worth it. I broke the British record on my birthday which was the best present ever and I can celebrate it now anyway."
