Monkey's creators have given him a series of spectacular backdrops in wild China as he makes his way to Beijing for the Games

In BBC Sport's story, Monkey and friends have to use Olympic disciplines to battle opponents on the way to Beijing

"It's a little bit different and hopefully it'll capture the essence of what we think the Olympics is all about," says BBC Sport's Jonathan Bramley

The animation is accompanied by music "with a good, classical Chinese element to it and a modern feel", according to Bramley

Lyrics in the theme include "Overcome fear / In order to achieve / For hope and for honour / The beautiful dream / The soul becomes one / This is the quest"
