Interview: Modern pentathlete Katy Livingston

Modern pentathlete Katy Livingstone says she is focusing on her training schedule rather than dreaming of her first Olympics.

Bath-based Livingstone, 24, is ranked fifth in the world after taking bronze at the world championships in May.

The athlete told BBC Points West: "It's every sports woman's dream, it's almost hard to think about Beijing.

"The road to actually compete is hard enough so you just have to focus on that," she added.

The women's modern pentathlon consists of five events which in China will all be held on Friday, 22 August.

Livingstone and Great Britain team-mate Heather Fell will shoot and fence in the morning, before a 200m swim in the middle of the day.

In the afternoon, competitors must impress the judges by riding a horse they have never met before, followed by an evening 3km cross-country run.
