American 400 metre runner Tyree Washington has told BBC London 94.9 that he would like a role in the London 2012 Olympics.
Washington is part of the US 4x400m relay team that broke the world record in 1998 with a time of 2:54:20.
"If I can just be a part I would really appreciate it," Washington said.
"I know Sebastian Coe's part of the organisation. It would be great to meet him and sit down and talk to him about what I can do."
Washington still does not know exactly what sort of role he could take on but is open to offers.
"I'm passionate about the sport. It doesn't matter if I was brought up in America or brought up in the UK.
"Track and field is track and field. If I can give back in any way I will," Washington said.
He also added that, despite London 2012 coming under criticism for spiralling costs, the games would be a success:
"There's always going to be wrinkles when you're preparing for an Olympics but I believe over a period of time everything's going to be ironed out."
