Alex Partridge

Peter Reed

Steve Williams MBE

With three of the men's coxless four retiring after Athens glory in 2004, Williams and his new team-mates had to pick up the baton.

They responded with a 27-race unbeaten run, and were twice crowned world champions.

Despite failing to retain their title this year, hopes are high for more golden success in Beijing in 2008.
