Smith aims for pommel horse glory

Smith will be joined in Beijing by club-mate Daniel Keatings

Louis Smith has targeted a medal on the pommel horse at the Olympics in Beijing to add to his bronze at the World Championships in Stuttgart last year.

Huntingdon Olympic Gymnastics Club member Smith, 19, will fly out to China this Sunday to continue preparations.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I think I've got a very good chance if I do the routine I can do, but you rely a lot on what other gymnasts do as well.

"Training's going really well and I'm just polishing up a bit now."

He added: "I don't think pressure will be a big deal as I've dealt with this type of thing before.

"People always have an expectation but I've just go to keep a level head and concentrate on the routine I know I can do."
