Northampton trampolinist Jaime Moore will travel to Beijing this summer for to her second Olympic Games, but only as a reserve.
Claire Wright will represent Great Britain in trampolining gymnastics but Moore told BBC Radio Northampton that she was still thrilled to be going.
"It's brilliant and I know I'm not there to compete but it's really good to be there."
Wright won her place by finishing above Moore at the European Championships.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to compete because that's what I love doing," she said.
"It all came down to the European Championships last week. I did my best there and whatever will be will be."
Moore finished last in 12th place at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and missed out on the Athens Games four years later through injury.
She will fly out with the British team to Beijing and will take Wright's place if she suffers an injury.
