LeBron James led the way for the United States as their star-studded line-up overpowered Angola to ease to a 97-76 win in their second group game.
James, who scored 12 points, excelled at both ends of the court and regularly outmuscled his opponents.
Dwayne Wade netted 19 but the top scorer on the night was Angola's Carlos Morais, who finished with 24.
"I was very pleased. The main thing was to keep some consistency," said US coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Angola coach Alberto Carvalho said: "Playing the US was inspirational for us. They are the best."
Meanwhile, China lost their second game of the tournament when they went down 85-75 in overtime to Spain, for whom Pau Gascol scored 29 points.
The hosts had been 14 points up at the end of the third quarter but the world champions levelled at 72-72 in the final seconds.
China guard Li Nan said: "We are not good enough psychologically when we are going for a win."
