England had to settle for silver after falling to champions Denmark in the European Championships team final.
Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg lost 21-15 22-24 21-18 in the mixed doubles then Andrew Smith and Tracey Hallam went down in the singles.
As they were unable to come back from 3-0 down, neither Nathan Robertson nor Gail Emms played in the doubles.
"The mixed doubles was vital. If we could have won it would have put pressure on," coach Ian Wright said.
"But we mustn't be downhearted. I think this final will make our players more determined for the individual event during the rest of the week."
