Countries to watch: Romania

Romania ranks 18th on the all-time Olympic Games medal list, but some say rarely gets the recognition its record deserves.

In Beijing, its best medal hopes are in women's gymnastics and women's rowing, in which the country traditionally excels.

But the key question is whether its hopes in these sports can stand up to the pressure from the hosts, China.

There has also been unwanted attention on the nation this month after three track athletes failed doping tests.
