Sudan montage

War-torn Sudan is a nation divided, but Olympic success could prove a much-needed unifying symbol.

A multi-ethnic athletics squad has been training in a crumbling Khartoum stadium under coach Jama Aden.

Running on a pot-holed track, lifting steel bars set into concrete blocks for weights - and part supported by charity, the athletes face huge hurdles to make it to the Olympics.

But several could make an impact - none more so than Abubaker Kaki Khamis, 19, one of the fastest in the world this year over 800m.
