Sir Steve Redgrave
Redgrave won a fifth consecutive gold medal in 2000

Five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave will run a leg of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay in London on 6 April.

Double Olympic gold medal winner Dame Kelly Holmes and Chelsea CEO Peter Kenyon will be among the 80 runners.

The torch relay will start at Wembley Stadium and finish at the O2 Arena.

"With the Olympics in 2012 getting ever closer there is no better time for the general public to engage with the Olympic spirit," said Redgrave.

"The torch is a big part of that."

Redgrave was the final participant in the London leg of the Athens Olympic Torch Relay.

He became the only British athlete to have won Gold medals at five consecutive Olympic Games after his success in Sydney 2000.
