Beijing Bulletin - minimal consultation
Relaxing Beijing
Hotels will be relaxing, public transport will run smoothly, restaurants will serve good, reasonably priced food and people will be polite.

Visitors' every whim will be catered for - there will even be plenty of internet access so travellers can keep in touch with family and friends back home.

But China has been able to achieve these amazing feats partly because it does not have to bother too much about consulting its people.

Decisions made at the top can be swiftly enacted, particularly when they concern the Olympics - the most important international event ever held in communist China.
