Chaoyang Park, in the grounds of the former Prince's Palace in the north east of Beijing, will host the beach volleyball tournament.
It is one of nine temporary venues which will be used during the Games, and organisers have brought in 17,000 tonnes of fine sand from Hainan, the second largest island in China.
The venue can hold 12,000 specators and has already hosted the 2007 FIVB Beach Volleyball Women's Challenger event in August.
It also has a unique "sun-chasing" solar panel, which moves with the sun to harness maximum energy.
