Achieng Ajulu-Bushell out to make Olympic splash

She finished in 1min 10.73secs, almost five seconds behind the Australian Leisel Jones who won in 1:05.84.

Thursday 7 Oct: Achieng has qualified for Friday's final of the 100m breaststroke.

BBC swimming commentator Adrian Moorcroft thinks the teenager needs to work on her leg-kick though. "She's only doing half a kick and needs to get her feet up to her bum," says the former Olympic gold medallist.

Tuesday 5 Oct: Despite reacting quickly to the starting buzzer, Achieng finished fifth in the final of the 50m breaststroke in a time of 31.56.

Monday 4 Oct: Achieng is through to the final of the 50m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games after winning her heat and finishing second in the semi-final.

Thursday 23 Sep: Achieng has arrived at the England swimming squad's training base in Doha where they will be making final preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
