Ivan was one of the school's star basketball players and a popular and friendly pupil.

School 108's sports stadium is used for gymnastics and football in summer and ice skating in winter. Pupils also go rock climbing in the nearby Ural mountains.

The school's current stars include the drama group, aerobic gymnasts, basketball and rowing teams.

Staff and pupils at School No 108 are proud of Ivan's achievements and are planning to produce a film about their sports stars in the run up to 2012 and host their own sport competitions.

Find out more about Ivan's school days and more about School No 108.
