Britain's Elise Christie exits in women's 1500m heats

Great Britain's Elise Christie failed to advance from the women's 1500m short track heats after finishing fourth in her group in Vancouver on Saturday.

The Nottinghamshire 19-year-old posted a time of two minutes 23.898 seconds, 0.2 seconds outside the three leaders in her heat, all of whom qualified.

Christie has struggled at the Winter Olympics, exiting at the quarter-final stage of the 500m event on Wednesday.

But she is still expected to compete in the women's 1000m in three days' time.

Christie's 1500m heat was the fastest of the six, and her time would have been enough to send her through from any of the other groups.

"I was just really nervous I think," she said. "I just messed it up.

"Maybe I let the whole experience get the best of me, I don't know. I've still got the 1000m so I'll move on and get on with it."

Christie had been talked up by Team GB coach Nicky Gooch as an outside medal chance and the skater said she felt as strong over the 1000m as she did over 1500m.

"They're both pretty similar and I'm good at both of them. I felt I could medal them both and I've messed up one so at least I've got the other one," she added
