Adlington undaunted by finishing second
Double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington has admitted she struggled with the weight of expectation after her success at the Beijing Olympics.
Adlington was speaking at the British Championships after coming second to Jo Jackson in the 400m freestyle, with both women breaking the world record.
"I'm a just turned 20-year-old girl," she told BBC Sport on Monday.
"To deal with the amount of pressure and expectation on me has been harder than I ever thought."
She added: "No-one can train you for that, not even my mum and dad, I've just have to deal with it as best as I can. Hopefully that race has shown that I have actually dealt with it quite well."
