Kruse has impressed in three events already this year
Britain's top fencer Richard Kruse won the men's foil Grand Prix in Venice to continue his impressive start to 2009.
Kruse beat Poland's Radoslaw Glonek 15-12 in the final, having overcome fellow Briton Laurence Halstead 13-2 in one of his earlier contests.
The triumph follows gold in Copenhagen and silver in Paris so far this year.
"Richard is in a very rich vein of form with three tremendous results since the New Year," British Fencing performance director Graham Watts said.
"We said that the way to achieve increased funding for our 2012 effort was to deliver medals on the piste instead of just talking about doing it.
"We have now delivered 13 podium finishes around the world so far in 2009."
The 25-year-old Kruse, from London, could now move as high as sixth in the world rankings.
