Laois 1-12 0-10 Antrim

Antrim lost by five in Portlaoise to stay bottom of Division Two.

The sides were level at four each early on, but Laois got on top and Michael John Tierney's fisted goal helped them to a 1-7 to 0-5 half-time lead.

Laois went 27 minutes without scoring in the second half and Antrim got back to within a point at 1-7 to 0-9.

Paddy Cunningham ended with six points for the Saffrons, but two late scores from substitute Paul Cahillane sealed the victory for Laois.

It is a disappointing result for Antrim who had looked capable of fighting back to register their first points of the league season.

They looked a lot livelier in the second half and, during that Laois spell without scoring, Antrim had four Cunningham scores, three of them frees.

But the Saffrons, who lost to Kildare in their opening fixture, fired four wides just when they threatened to overhaul Justin McNulty's men.

Former Armagh player McNulty has enjoyed a dream start to his managerial career, this success coming two weeks after an opening win over Westmeath.
