Michael Murphy captained Donegal's U21 side to the Ulster title last year
Michael Murphy has been chosen to succeed Kevin Cassidy as captain of Donegal for the 2011 season.
The 21-year-old has been handed the armband by new manager Jim McGuinness and becomes one of the youngest skippers in the county's history.
The full-forward has spearheaded the Donegal attack since making his senior debut at senior level in 2007.
The Glenswilly clubman also captained the county's Under-21 side to the Ulster title last year.
Donegal will begin their National League Division Two campaign with a home game against Sligo on 5 February, with a series of challenging fixtures against Ulster rivals Tyrone, Derry and Antrim to follow.
