Eamonn O'Brien has been axed as Meath senior football manager after losing a vote of confidence at a county board meeting on Monday night.

The Meath management committee recommended that O'Brien be ratified for a third season in charge.

However, despite O'Brien guiding his team to the Leinster title this year, delegates voted 32-29 against the motion following a secret ballot.

Meath defeated Louth in controversial circumstances in the Leinster final.
