Andrews managed Cavan to the 2001 Ulster Final

Val Andrews and Terry Hyland have been named as the joint managers of Cavan for a three year term, with a review to be held after two years. The appointment of the pair was ratified at a specially convened County Committee meeting on Thursday night. Earlier this week, the management committee of the county board recommended that the duo take charge. Andrews had Hyland as part of his backroom team during his previous spell in charge of the Breffni county. Andrews was previously manager of Cavan from 1999 to 2001, the year they last reached an Ulster final. He was manager of the Dublin minors this year. Even though his team reached the Ulster decider, Andrews didn't get unanimous approval from the county's clubs to continue in the job and the Dubliner resigned. Since then, he has managed Louth for two years and his own club side Ballymun Kickhams. Hyland guided Cavan to this year Ulster Under-21 final this year where they were defeated by Donegal. Tommy Carr stepped down as Cavan boss in July after two disappointing seasons with the county.
