Tyrone's Tommy McGuigan might need surgery on a knee problem
|
Tommy McGuigan has been replaced by his brother Brian in Tyrone's half-forward line for Saturday's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Dublin. Tommy had not trained since the Ulster final win over Monaghan because of severe swelling on a knee. It is manager Mickey Harte's only change from the team which started that provincial decider at Clones. Sean Cavanagh is named at full-forward while 2005 player of the year Stephen O'Neill is one of the substitutes. O'Neill has returned from injury and is joined on the bench by Enda McGinley who opted out of the squad during the National League in a bid to recover from niggling injuries. The three-time All-Ireland winner could make his first Championship appearance of the season. "Enda is in good condition, in good shape and training very well," said Tyrone assistant manager Donnelly confirmed. Brian McGuigan is starting for Tyrone for the first time since the 2008 quarter-final win over Dublin.
Tyrone: P McConnell; C McCarron, Justin McMahon, R McMenamin; D Harte, C Gormley, P Jordan; C Cavanagh, K Hughes; B Dooher, B McGuigan, Joe McMahon; M Penrose, S Cavanagh, O Mulligan.
