Ballycran 2-11 2-16 Dunloy

Highlights as Antrim side Dunloy win the Ulster Club Hurling Championship for the 10th time with a five-point success over Ballycran at Casement Park.

Antrim side Dunloy won the AIB Ulster Club Hurling Championship for the 10th time with a five-point success over Down outfit Ballycran at Casement Park.

Dunloy dominated the opening period but were only a point up at the break after a goal by Ballycran's Aidan Clarke.

Points from Conor Arthurs, Simon Wilson and Conor Woods put Ballycran ahead but Paddy Richmond then netted for Dunloy.

A long free from Wilson found the net to give Ballycran hope but Dunloy got their second goal through Sean Dowds.

His sideline ball caught out keeper Declan Ennis and went in off the underside of the bar.

Dunloy should have been well ahead at half-time but their failure to take scores meant the underdogs from Down were always in with a chance.

Playing against the strong breeze in the first half, Ballycran got the first score through a Simon Wilson free but Dunloy took control and scored six points without reply.

Wilson landed two more frees but the match was into first-half stoppage time when Conor Arthurs scored Ballyclran's first point from play.

That left it 0-8 to 0-4 to Dunloy who had dominated the first period.

But just before the break Ballycran dramatically reduced the deficit to just one point when Clarke netted a goal.

Clarke beat Gareth Magee at his near post and Ballycran were very much in contention.

Ballycran made a string start to the second half to briefly take the lead.

But Dunloy got their opening goal 19 minutes into the second half when Richmond collected a long ball out by keeper Gareth McGhee and swivelled to find the net.

Ballycran got their second goal when Wilson's free from 75 metres somehow beat McGhee.

But almost immediately another keeper's mistake, this time Ballycran's Ennis, let Dowds find the net from the sideline.
