Trouble flared after the Tyrone county final at Healy Park

Tyrone officials are to investigate reports that referee Sean Quinn was assaulted after Sunday's county football final at Healy Park. Dromore beat Ardboe 1-14 to 1-13 in an exciting match, their goal coming from a penalty scored by Colm McCullagh. "I think someone came out of the spectators and tried to attack the referee," Tyrone chairman Pat Darcy told the Irish News. "This should not happen and we need to look at security for referees." Darcy said the referee had been correct in awarding the all-important penalty. "It was cruel on Ardboe to lose it the way they did, but it was a penalty," he added. "The referee made the call and that is the way it goes. "We need to look at safety for referees when they are leaving the pitch. "There were a lot of stewards there and fortunately they did get the referee off fairly quickly."
