Tyrone forward Stephen O'Neill and Donegal defender Karl Lacey were the only two Ulster players to feature in the 2009 GAA Football All Stars.

It is Clann na nGael clubman O'Neill's third honour having won an All Star in 2001 and then in 2005 when he also won the footballer of the year award.

Lacey was picking up his second award having been included in 2006.

His Donegal team-mate Michael Murphy was named young player of the year after scoring 0-36 in the Championship.

Former Aussie Rules player Tadhg Kennelly was one of seven men from All-Ireland champions Kerry named.

Kennelly was winning his first award, following in the footsteps of his late father Tim who won two All Stars.

Right half-forward Paul Galvin of Kerry was voted Vodafone footballer of the year while Kilkenny's Tommy Walsh was named top hurler at Friday's awards ceremony.

Kerry won their 36th All-Ireland football title in September, beating Cork in the final, and Kilkenny saw off Tipperary to land their 32nd All-Ireland.
