Derry job hopefuls down to three

Damien Cassidy
Damien Cassidy is the favourite to get the Derry football job

Interviews for the vacant Derry senior football manager's job will take place on Tuesday night with the list of candidates now down to three.

Damien Cassidy, John Brennan and Derry hurling boss Brian McGilligan are the remaining hopefuls after Liam Bradley withdrew his nomination.

Cassidy has been the favourite for the position since Paddy Crozier opted not to seek another year in the job.

An appointment is unlikely to be announced for a number of days.

Last week, John McCloskey and Tony Scullion ruled themselves out of the race to succeed Paddy Crozier as Derry senior football manager.

Scullion is a full-time employee of the Ulster Council and he did not get the green light from the provincial body to be in contention to combine the roles.
