Oisin McConville is a step closer to being in the Armagh team for the Ulster SFC final against Fermanagh on 20 July.

Manager Peter McDonnell said he was pleased the way the Championship record points scorer was going training.

"Oisin had an excellent session on Sunday morning," said McDonnell who did not use McConville from the bench in the semi-final win over Down.

"If he can put two or three of those back-to-back then I would be very otpimistic about him."

Meanwhile, Erne boss Malachy O'Rourke said Barry Owens would not be a starter for Fermanagh in the decider.

The former All Star made a sensational return from heart surgery when he came off the bench to score a goal in the semi-final victory over Derry.

O'Rourke believes Owens will not be fit enough to start at Clones but expects the Teemore man to feature in the game.

Full-back Hugh Brady is a doubt for the decider because of a back injury.

O'Rouke told the Irish News that Ulster final will come too early for Owens.

"He won't start - a fit Barry Owens would obvioulsy be an automatic starter," he said.

"I think it would be asking too much. He has only played a wee bit of club football.

"He played 15 minutes against Derry and hoefully he will be fit to play some more the next day.

"The day after the Derry game I was talking to him and even though he played ony 15 minutes he was absolutely exhausted and very sore. It took an awful lot out of him."
