Antrim 1-10 6-21 Galway

Galway's Cyril Donnellan and Antrim's Johnny Campbell and Paul Shiels

Antrim were beaten 6-21 to 1-10 by Galway in their All-Ireland SHC qualifier at Casement Park on Saturday.

Donal McNaughton scored the first point but Galway replied with six points before Michael Magill's goal and three unanswered points made it 0-10 to 1-7.

Two Joe Canning goals gave the visitors a 2-13 to 1-8 lead at half-time.

Damien Hayes netted soon after the break and Galway added three further goals as Antrim managed just two points and had Michael McCambridge sent-off.

McCambridge was red-carded for striking in the second period.

The Saffrons lined up for the game without Liam Watson who was axed from the panel prior to the match.

Canning replied to McNaughton's early point by landing four of his side's first six points while Karl McKeegan, Michael Herron and Karl Stewart scored Antrim points as they trailed 0-10 to 0-4.

The Ulster county were level after 28 minutes thanks to Magill's 21st-minute goal and three consecutive points by McNaughton.

Galway moved into overdrive for the remainder of the game, with McKeegan scoring one of Antrim's two second-half points.

Alan Kerins and Kerril Wade (2) were the second-half goalscorers for Galway.
