Monaghan overcame a slow start to easily beat Fermanagh 1-10 to 0-5 in Sunday's Gaelic Life McKenna Cup clash at rain-lashed Irvinestown.
Fermanagh led 0-3 to 0-1 after 12 minutes but failed to register another score for 31 minutes.
Monaghan led 0-5 to 0-3 at half-time and were then buoyed by the introduction of the Freeman brothers.
Ciaran Hanratty's goal midway through the second half ended any prospect of a Fermanagh revival.
Both sides paraded experimental line-ups and Farney boss Seamus McEnaney gave debuts to his nephew Gary McEnaney, Paul Meegan and Shane Mulligan.
Gary McEnaney is the son of top gaelic football referee Pat McEnaney.
Fermanagh boss Charlie Mulgrew opted to play Barry Owens at centre half-forward while Martin McGrath was also in action for the Erne county.
