Crossmaglen seal last eight spot
Oisin McConville
Captain Oisin McConville scored five points for Crossmaglen
Crossmaglen beat Gweedore 0-12 to 1-4 in Sunday's Ulster Club championship preliminary round tie to book a place in the last eight against Mullahoran.

The Donegal champions got off to a flying start with Joe Duffy finding the net after 23 seconds but Cross fought back to lead 0-7 to 1-1 at half-time.

Gweedore had substitute Rory McCool red carded on 23 minutes for striking an opponent while trailing 1-3 to 0-9.

Cross extended their lead and Oisin McConville top scored with five points.

Aaron Kernan was unable to start for the Armagh champions after failing to overcome a knee injury but Ronan McNialis and Cornelius Diver were passed fit for Gweedore, who had James Gallagher away on honeymoon.

Duffy's early strike past Paul Hearty stunned Cross but Donal Murtagh's side hit back with a point from Martin Aherne, two from Oisin McConville and then another by Aherne.

Michael McNamee got on the scoresheet before Stephen Cassidy registered Gweedore's first point after 26 minutes.

McConville added two more points before the interval to give his side a three point advantage at the break.

McNamee was on target a minute after half-time, Gerard Whorisky responded for Gweedore but a McConville free restored his side's four point lead.

Duffy pointed for the Donegal men before McCool received a straight red card for an off the ball incident with Francie Bellew just two minutes after entering the fray.

McNamee, Aherne and John Donaldson scored points for Cross with Niall McGee grabbing a late consolation.
