Bryansford beat An Riocht 1-12 to 0-7 in the first round of the Down SFC in Ballymartin on Friday night, Gerard Morgan scoring the goal on 18 minutes.
Clonduff got over the first hurdle for the first time in three years when they defeated Annaclone by six points, 2-11 to 1-8, at Mayobridge.
Jason Brown and Tom Fagan were the goalscorers for Clonduff with Aidan Fagan finding the net for Annaclone.
The first round continues with matches on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Newcastle hosts a double header on Saturday night with Loughinisland taking on Ballyholland at 1800 BST followed by the champions Mayobridge against Longstone at 1930 BST.
On Sunday evening the action moves to Clonduff Park, Hilltown where Liatroim and Shamrocks are in opposition at 1800 BST and then Rostrevor play Burren at 1930 BST.
