Bellaghy beat Loup in Derry final

Ronan Rocks' three points were not enough to help Loup
Bellaghy defeated Loup 2-7 to 1-6 in a closely fought Derry SFC final at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon.

Loup led early on but Gareth Doherty's 20th minute goal edged Bellaghy ahead. A late first-half goal by Joseph O'Kane gave Loup a 1-3 to 1-1 half-time lead.

The second half was closely fought until a late point from Joe Cassidy and a Declan Graffin goal saw Bellaghy win.

Joe Cassidy contributed four points for the champions, with Doherty and Graffin each finishing with a total of 1-1.

Loup received a boost with the return of Ronan Rocks to their line-up but it was Bellaghy who dominated the early stages and enjoyed the best of the scoring opportunities.

Points from Rocks and Johnny McBride gave Loup the lead before Cassdy registered the first point for Damien Cassidy's side.

Doherty then found the net when he dispossessed John O'Kane and fisted the ball into the net.

A Paul Young point reduced the deficit and then full-back O'Kane cracked home a right-foot shot in first-half injury-time.

Cassidy's second point and one from Francis Blacken levelled the match but Rocks restored Loup's lead at 1-4 to 1-3.

Cassidy's third point of the game restored parity again but Rocks replied once more.

Graffin got in on the act but Finton Devlin responded for Loup to give them the lead again.

A Doherty point was cancelled out by Cassidy's fourth of the afternoon and Graffin's late goal sealed the victory.

Paul McFlynn and Shane McFlynn were disappointing for the losing side.
