Tyrone minus Errigal contingent
Peter Canavan
Peter Canavan will miss Tyrone's game against Dublin
Peter Canavan is among four Errigal Ciaran players who have been excused from Tyrone's opening NFL game against Dublin on Sunday.

Errigal Ciaran take on Bellaghy in the Ulster Club Final on November 5 and Canavan, his brother Pascal, Eoin Gormley and Cormac McGinley will therefore miss the league tie.

The Tyrone selectors name three debutants for Sunday's match.

Declan McCrossan comes into the half-back line with Peter Campbell (midfield) and Eoin Mulligan also named in the starting line-up.

Broken jaw

Brian Dooher, still recovering from a broken jaw, was not considered for selection.

Fermanagh manager John Maughan gives NFL debuts to Ederney's Martin McGrath and Newtownbutler player Brendan McBrien.

McGrath is selected at right half-forward with O'Brien getting the left corner-forward berth.

Cavan include a number of new players including defenders Thomas Prior and Edward Jackson.

Intercounty duty

Goalkeeper Aaron Donoghue makes his return to intercounty duty after a two year absence.

Kerry have named Maurice Fitzgerald in their team for Sunday's clash with Louth in Killarney but the Cahirciveen man is certain not to play in the match.

Fitzgerald heads on holiday to Spain on Saturday and will not be available for the match.

Fitzgerald told the Irish Independent of his surprise at his selection.

No intrigue

"I was under the impression the selectors had been made aware of my plans.

"There is no intrigue behind my unavailability," said Fitzgerald.

The Kerry star added that he hoped to be available for the other league matches prior to Christmas.

Denis O'Dwyer who was also named in the side is expected to drop out because of a shin injury.

Australian Rules

Dara O Cinneide and Enda Galvin could be called up to replace Fitzgerald and O'Dwyer.

The Kerry selectors give a debut to Castleisland's Mossie Lyons.

In all nine of Kerry's Championship line-up will start.

Meanwhile, Kerry forward Mike Frank Russell, named in the team for Sunday's match against Louth, has expressed an interest in a full-time Australian Rules Football career.

Prime target

Russell is a prime target of Aussie Rules agents who are scouring gaelic football for potential stars.

The Kerry youngster said that he would interested if the offer of a "two or three year contract" was offered.

Australian agent Peter Jess has confirmed that Russell is top of his shopping list.

Three top young gaelic footballers have already signed contracts to move to Australia.

Recruiting ground

These include Cavan minor star Nicholas Walsh who has signed for the Melbourne Demons.

Walsh caught the eye of Australian Rules clubs when he represented Ireland in two U17 International Rules series against the Aussies.

The two other players moving to Australia are Cork star Bernie Collins and Dublin teenager Kevin Devine.

Collins will play his final match for Cork before departing for the Western Bulldogs on a two-year contract when he lines against Armagh on Sunday.

A number of prominent GAA personalities, including BBC analyst Martin McHugh, have claimed that there is a danger that the Compromise Rules series will simply become a recruiting ground for Australian Rules clubs.
