Britain's Robert Smith
Britain's Robert Smith won the leading rider of the show award

Welsh rider Andrew Davies rounded off a highly successful inaugural Belfast International Horse Show on Sunday by claiming the £27,000 cheque in the Envirocare Grand Prix.

Riding Limbo V, Davies produced a brilliant double-clear which included a superb jump-off time of 31.50 seconds.

His scorching round left him 2.59 seconds ahead of Britain's Nick Skelton who was aboard Arko II.

Skelton won £20,000 for his second place finish.

Switzerland's Daniel Etter produced a steady clear in 36.67 on Hermine Imperiale in the jump off to take the £14,000 third prize.

Irish rider Cian O'Connor also enjoyed a lucrative evening with his fourth place on Waterford Crystal earning him £8,000.

The Grand Prix success was Davies' second win of the day.

Earlier in the day, Davies had won the Balloo Six Bar event.

The 28-year-old Welshman was the only rider to jump his five rounds clear in an event in which competitors were faced by six identical fences, rising to 1.85 metres.

Robert Smith, who claimed four wins during the week, claimed the rider of the show award and won a Mercedes car.

Smith won the Days Hotel Stakes on Sunday.

Riding Kalusha, the Englishman claimed the first prize of £2,500 with a time of 47.07 seconds in a competition which was just one round against the clock.

Emkile Tacken of Holland took second ahead of another English competitor Robert Maguire.

Jessica Kurten was the best-placed Irish participant, claiming fifth spot on Castle Forbes Libertina.
