Eva Massey took the women's shot putt title at the AAA's Indoor Championships in Birmingham on Sunday.
The North Down athlete's winning mark of 16.29m was only three centimetres short of her personal best.
Massey showed admirable composure to produce her winning throw in the final round.
Joanne Duncan had led with a first round throw of 16.22 and Massey's best effort had been a 15.28 in the penultimate round.
Paul Brizzel broke Gary Ryan's Irish record on the way to claiming a silver medal in the 200m.
Brizzel clocked 20.75 in the semi-finals to take .24 off the existing national mark.
The Ballymena sprinter's time of 20.80 in the final left him .11 behind winner Allyn Condon with the Irish record holder appearing to get a somewhat sluggish start.
Another Irishman Paul Hession took third in 21.95 after setting a personal best performance of 21.44 in the first round.

Ballymena & Antrim athlete Zoe Brown took silver in the pole vault after achieving a mark of 3.90m.
Lagan Valley's Erin Kinnear jumped 3.60m to take sixth place.
Like Brizzel, Ciara Sheehy produced an Irish 200m record.
Sheehy edged out British talent Amy Spencer by .03 to take gold in the women's 200m final in a world-class time of 23.17.
Emily Maher, fourth in Saturday's 60m, finished in the same position in the 200m in 24.18 after setting a personal best of 24.00 in the semi-finals.
David McCarthy produced a season's best to finish second in the 400m behind winner Australia's Daniel Batman (45.93).
McCarthy, who has qualified for the World Indoors, clocked 46.68.
The Irishmen was well ahead of Britons Cori Henry and Mark Hylton who both clocked 47.20 in third place.
Meanwhile, Martin McCarthy and Anne Keenan-Buckley claimed the senior titles at the Irish National Cross Country Championships in Wicklow.
McCarthy came home ahead of Cathal Lombard and Noel Berkeley in the men's race while Keenan-Buckley took women's gold ahead of Maria McCambridge.
