Larmour double sinks Tobermore
![]() Two goals from Davy Larmour against Tobermore
Result: Tobermore United 0-2 Linfield
Linfield negotiated a potential banana skin at Fortwilliam Park to nudge into Nationwide Irish Cup quarter-finals. It was a goal in either half that took David Jeffrey's side through a difficult sixth round tie at Tobermore. Linfield, however, just did what they had to do, although they had opportunities to pull away from the Second Divisoin side. Linfield were first to press and William Murphy headed a great early chance wide for Linfield. Breakthrough Glenn Ferguson then saw a shot well saved by the Tobermore goalkeeper Robert Crown in the eighth minute. Five minutes later the former international saw a rasping shot fly over the crossbar five minutes later. Lee Feeney missed a great chance in the 23rd minute with a hot-air shot in front of goal from a Ferguson pass. It was all Linfield and Tobermore had another let-off when Ryan McCann fired a free-kick just wide of the post in the 25th minute. Linfield finally broke through in the 29th minute with a cracking goal from Larmour who curled a great shot over Crown from the edge of the area.
Tobermore's Adrian Crockhart had his side's best chance in the first half with a free-kick that blazed over the crossbar. Tobermore had another great opportunity just on the half-time whistle, but Sammy Shields could not get past Alan Manus as he veered down on goal. Four minutes into the second half, Larmour wrapped it all up when he tucked away the ball from close range after good work from Ferguson and McCann. Only now and again did Tobermore threaten and once in the first half, and a triple save in the second by Alan Manus saved any blushes. However, Linfield strolled through the final stages of the game to put their name in the hat for the next round.
