October clash for Kelly
Damaen Kelly (left) lost his IBO title earlier this year
Belfast boxer Damaen Kelly will return to the ring against Lito Dangudd in an eight-round non-title fight in Liverpool on 5 October.
The bout will begin the former undefeated European and IBO flyweight champion's quest for a likely world title fight in early 2003 against England's Peter Culshaw. The contest will be on the same bill as Audley Harrison's next heavyweight encounter and will be screened on the BBC. Culshaw will fight Dangudd's brother Celso, who Kelly defeated to win the WBF title in May, on the same bill over eight rounds. The Belfast man, who claimed the WBF flyweight title in May, was stripped of his IBO title earlier this year and will be looking forward to getting a shot at the highly-rated Culshaw. New WBO champion Omar Navaraez and Puerto Rican-born WBA champion Eric Morel are also reported to be targets for Kelly's promoter Jess Harding.
