McCarville reign over
McCarville (right) after last year's win over Fermanagh
Monaghan football boss Jack McCarville's reign is over.
McCarville had indicated that he wanted to stay in the role for another season after completing a three-year stint. However, Monaghan GAA chairman Gary Carville has told the county's committee to put in train a process to appoint a new manager. Clubs will be consulted as to what they believe is the way forward for Monaghan football. The clubs have been asked to bring the results of the consultation process to the next meeting of the county committee on 1 Juy. McCarville steered Monaghan to the Ulster semi-finals last year after the county had shocked Fermanagh in the provincial first round. However, Monaghan had a disappointing championship and league campaign this year. Fermanagh exacted revenge for last year's Ulster Championship defeat while Louth defeated the Farney county in the All-Ireland Qualifiers.
