Reds manager Stitt steps down

Stitt steps down after only two seasons in charge
Laurence Stitt has stepped down as Cliftonville manager.

Stitt gave the Reds board the news on Saturday just before he left for a short holiday.

It is likely that Stitt's assistant, former Northern Ireland defender Mal Donaghy, will also go.

Stitt gave no reason for his sudden departure, but a disappointing season for the Reds had probably left him frustrated.

Cliftonville finished well adrift of the five teams above them in the Premiership winning only nine of their 36 games.

The former Reds player was at Solitude for nearly two seasons following Marty Quinn's move to Coleraine.

Favourite to take over would be fans' favourite Marty Tabb.

Tabb is an institution at Solitude, and is at present looking after the thriving youth set-up at Cliftonville.
