Late Crues goal sinks Newry
Crusaders striker Stephen Baxter is retiring after 17 seasons in the Irish League
Match at Newry was Stephen Baxter's swansong

Newry Town 0-1 Crusaders

Crusaders leapfrogged over Newry Town near the foot of the Premiership table to finish the season in eighth place.

It was a morale-boosting end to the season for Gary McCartney's side who had been anchored to the bottom of the table earlier in the season.

This was veteran striker Stephen Baxter's final senior game after 17 seasons.

But he did not mark his swansong with a goal.

Instead it was Davy Munster who snatched victory with a late goal.

He produced the only goal of the game in the 89th minute to leave Alfie Wylie's Newry finishing the season just one place for the bottom of the table.
