City of Derry too strong for Malone
Malone 17-22 City of Derry

City of Derry continued to be Malone's bogey side when they surged into the First Trust Senior Cup semi-finals.

Derry deserved their victory at Gibson Park on Saturday by virtue of scoring two excellent tries.

Their South African Rhys Spree scored the first while Tyrone Anderson grabbed the second, while Richard Allen banged over four penalties.

Malone, beaten by Derry earlier this season, scored one fine try through Ballyclare recruit Brian Kane.

Coach Jacques Benade kicked three penalties while Gareth Fry another.

First Trust Senior Cup quarter-finals:
10 Nov:

Malone 17-22 City of Derry
Instonians 6-18 Banbridge

15 Nov:
Coleraine v Ballynahinch; Belfast Harlequins v Dungannon (1930GMT)

Instonians 6-18 Banbridge

Banbridge shocked Instonians with a very comfortable victory in the First Trust Senior Cup quarter-final tie at Shaw's Bridge on Saturday.

Banbridge have not won an AIB League game this season, but took the game to the home side right from the start.

David Soper was their hero with five penalties while Colin Lawson chipped in with another.

Instonians could only reply with a brace of penalties from Darren Dunlop.

The other two quarter-final ties will be on Thursday, 15 November.

At Ravenhill, champions Belfast Harlequins take on Dungannon in a repeat of last season's final.

Harlequins were defeated by Ballymena in the fourth round, but were re-instated after the Eaton Park side were deemed to have played ineligible players.

Coleraine, the only Junior side remaining in the competition, could spring a surprise when they take on an out-of-form Ballynahinch outfit at Rugby Avenue.

Munster Schools 10-12 Ulster Schools

Four penalties from Royal Armagh fly-half Gareth Steenson gave Ulster a great victory over Munster in the opening Schools' inter-provincial in Limerick.

It was Ulster's first victory over their Munster counterparts since 1990.

Meanwhile, tickets for the Ireland A v All Blacks game at Ravenhill on Tuesday evening are available from the following outlets.

The Ulster Branch at Ravenhill, SS Moores, Athletic Stores, Eurosports in Lisburn or Ticket Master on Telephone: 0870 243 4455.
