Brigade end 18-year wait
Brigade lifted the North-West League title following a 75-run play-off victory over Donemana.

It was 18 years since they had coveted the Division One title.

Brigade looked in trouble when they only managed a lowly 155 for nine from 45 overs when they had first use of the wicket.

But a stunning bowling performance by Graham Moore skittled Donemana for a paltry 80.

The paceman, who had suffered with injury during the season, took five for 29 from seven overs.

Struggled

Derek Cooke was Brigade's top marksman. He carried his bat right through the innings for 39 painstaking runs.

Cooke received great back-up from tailenders Ian Nicholl (32 not out) and Mark Simpson (27) as Brigade struggled to their total.

Things did not look any healthier when Donemana had 32 on the board without loss.

Then everything collapsed with five wickets falling for two runs in the fifties and Donemana never recovered.

Meanwhile, Waringstown clinched the runners-up slot in the Ulster Bank League.

The Lawn side defeated Instonians by eight wickets on their own turf.

They restricted Instonians to 126 before knockings off the runs with ease with Alan Waite top-scoring with 35 not out.
