Bohemians captain Kevin Hunt lifts the league trophy
Bohemians claimed their first Eircom League title in 23 years as Shelbourne slipped up disastrously on the final day of the season.

Shelbourne led the championship going into the last day of the campaign but their 1-0 defeat by Cork City allied to Bohemians' 5-0 romp against relegated Kilkenny meant the title ended up at Dalymount Park.

Ollie Cahill hit Cork City's goal a minute before half-time at Tolka Park.

Bohemians' 5-0 success, their sixth straight league win left them two points clear of their Dublin rivals at the top of the Eircom League table.

Dave Morrison opened the scoring for Bohemians in the 31st minute and the contest was as good as over when Glenn Crowe added the second a minute after half-time.

Harps relegated

Trevor Molloy, Mark Rutherford and Crowe completed the scoring.

Roddy Collins' team will have a chance to emulate Shels' double-heroics of last year, when they take on Longford Town in the FAI Cup Final later this month.

Donegal team Finn Harps were relegated to the Eircom League First Division despite their 2-1 home win over Longford Town.

UCD's 2-1 win in Galway meant they avoided the automatic drop although they still will be involved in a promotion-relegation play-off.

Derry City finished sixth in the table after defeating Shamrock Rovers 3-2 on Sunday.

The northerners came from 2-0 down to win with Liam Coyle, Darren McCready and Peter Hutton hitting the goals.
